RotS: "Coated"

Illustration, hooray! Background, boo! I don't have much to say that isn't on the DeviantART upload of this so you should go there. Yes, I know this is a blog and I'm supposed to ramble here but I've already rambled elsewhere - I think my ramble ran out. Sad times.

But yeah, this is an illustration for a Spirited Away fanfiction by Velf. Search her on FF.net. That, or go and look at the DeviantART upload, there are links. It's magical.

I'm currently editing the levels and such of this image. At some point soon you may see a different version... possibly.

For the fullview and ramble click here.

Speedpaint: "Static"

I don't think I have uploaded this anywhere else, I created this sometime last year and never got round to uploading it. This is Static, a superhero of sorts - her real name is Taryn Mason. This is not supposed to be clean or neat, it is supposed to be messy and quick. I liked it, especially the colours. At some point I may re-do it, as with most of my images. I say I will but inevitably I don't. Enjoy the messiness. :D

"Na'vi"

This is the last of my Valentines weekend doodles - yep, I doodled quite a bit, three pages worth. This isn't supposed to be any particular Na'vi, I just thought, while I was drawing it, that it looked like one and so turned it into one. Avatar is wonderful.

Exclusive coming next time I update, woo! Though, it's not that amazing but... I like it and I like calling it an 'exclusive' - it makes me feel vaguely important. This may not happen until after Friday, however, as it's my birthday and I have some lovelies staying with me for a few days and thus will be busy - I'm pretty damn excited.

WIP Dump

Blog exclusive, oh yes. These are some of the pieces I have sitting around waiting to be finished. I aim to finish all of them soon. Who knows, it might happen. Click it, it should get bigger, in theory... It's also huge so watch out for that.

A note on Alice: I've done Wonderland re-designs before and have decided to overhaul them all and do loads of new ones. The pose was referenced from a stock photo and said pose was found because I loved the pose of Blue-Bird's Mad Hatter Costume Design, what can I say? She inspires me.

Next time I update this it will be with a doodle - good times - and then there will be another blog exclusive. Stay tuned. :D

"2.29am 19.03.2010"

I seriously think I might be addicted to this whole sketchblog thing. That or I really have nothing better to do. It could be either... or a combination of both. Say hello to Me, yes that is me, in a weird cartoony style. As written on DeviantART, I need to pick a style and stick with it... but that would be so boring. I like my disordered styles and how I completely ignore how things should look unless I'm trying something vaguely realistic. Ah well, I'll do whatever.

Part of me is worrying that... by my posting this you will miss the last post, which actually contains some half-decent art. Please, go and look at it. You only have to scroll down, it's not hard and it is worth it, promise.

I should be in bed right now. That's what I should be doing. Why sleep when you can draw? Eh? Who knows. I don't, since I'm sat here rambling about it. Except, I am now going to stop rambling about it. Ha.

For fullview and some slightly different, much shorter ramble click here.

"St. George"

Two posts in one day? You're lucky noodles. Yes, you are. Anyway! Since I mentioned this in my last post, I thought it only fair to put the finished product on here.

I am, and I say this with complete and utter clarity, never using Gimp for this big a file again. It was torture. Though, it did result in two facebook doodles, the second of which will appear on here at some point.

Despite the Gimp issues, I am rather proud of this - it's oddly simple, it doesn't look it but it is. It wouldn't have taken so long if I was using PSE. I sometimes like doing simple manips... and non-creepy manips.

Facebook Graffiti: Dragon's Eye

This was drawn on the wall of the Blue-Bird, my Beth (Yes, mine). Visit her doodle blog, writing blog, poetry specific blog and observation blog - you know you want to. I loves her dearly and so should you. And, just so you know, her writings and doodlings and such are awesome, you should definitely check them out. Plus, she's a lovely person and so deserves your attention. She's less sarcastic than me. :P You might appreciate the break from my sarcasm.

But anyway, onto the actual colourfuldoodlemathing.

I'm rather impressed by this. I didn't undo anything and I kept accidentally doing the pen-flick that makes my browser go back a page. Thank the baby jesus (hey-zeus) for auto recovery, otherwise this would not exist, which would make me sad.

This was technically procrastination. I'm supposed to be (and am) working on a manip for my big brother - he needs a background for a poster, so I'm obliging. However, since he lacks PSE I have to work in Gimp and while I love Gimp, it was my starting point and holds a place in my heart, working in A3 size at 300dpi does not work. It makes it very slow and hard to work with, especially if erasing/painting large spaces. So, while I'm gathering the motivation to finish erasing the sky and replacing it with a more atmospheric sky, I decided to do this. And update this blog. Everyone's a winner! Except maybe my brother... who may have to wait slightly longer than he originally would have.

Oops.

"There's a place [...]"

From 2009. You might see this little dude again... since I may do a few single panel things like this. I'm not entirely sure where he came from, if I'm honest. But I like it. I like the words, I may have to use them for something. Excuse the random eye. There's always a random eye, it's like a rule of doodle life or something. There will always be an eye.

There's a place here where we walk faceless, lost but exactly where we wanted

Teaser

This is what I'm currently working on... even though I should be finishing some other digital paintings... but I had this idea and loved it. So, I decided to do it. Ha. I'm not going to tell you more about it because then it wouldn't be so much of a teaser but that is not the whole thing. No, siree. That's only a little bit. There's probably a lot wrong with it but it's only in the sketch stage so that's okay. Enjoy. :D You might get another teaser later on in the process.

Also, my soundtrack for this piece is Epica. Mmm.

EDIT:

I felt like being nice and giving you another peek. Aren't I lovely?

"Angular"

Another Valentines weekend doodle. Not Valentinesque whatsoever but eh. I don't have much to say, the fact that typing is proving difficult is probably the reason for this but that's a different story entirely. So, yes, there you go.

"I saved my last [...]" Experiments

I'm bombarding you with blog entries today, aren't I? Ah well. I decided to fiddle with 'I saved my last breath for your window' in photoshop (see a past but not too past blog entry). The top image is the three edits and the original combined and the three edits are below. I like the one in the middle the most, more ghostly and more fitting to the title. It's not quite black and white, it has subtle colour and I think it works really well with the title. Why did I not decide to edit before? It's something I like to pretend I'm good at.

I will be editing the scannings more often, I feel.

"Redhanded" - Before and After

This is a manipualtion I created a few days ago, you can see what I started with and what it turned into. It's all very exciting, isn't it?

Though it uses only one stock and two textures it was actually a rather complicated manip - a lot of painting went into it. It's a fact that I'm proud of, I think I am getting better at incorporating painting into my manipulations. It's a milestone I wasn't entirely sure that I would be crossing. I still need to put a lot of work in what I paint into my manipulations but it's certainly progress.

If you would like to see the manipulation on its own, without the gif aspect and at a higher resolution and with the possibility of fullview, then click here.

I like to create scary things.

"I saved my last breath for your window"

Title credit: Acoustic Funeral (For Love in Limbo) by HIM

So, I decided to scan my face a few times. I like to call the series 'At your window' and yes, I am making a series out of it. Most of them are artistically pleasing. I will be doing more during the course of the next few weeks (whenever I scan doodles or the like). I have another part of the series uploaded and it can be seen here. I may upload this one there as well but I'm not entirely sure - this may be a series which is spread throughout my various nooks of the internet. It'll be like a treasure hunt to find each piece. How exciting. Anyway, second post in one day - be happy.

"Seeeee!"

So, here is the first. It wasn't actually done in a lecture but it is a doodle. I believe I was in Southampton at the time - february 13th. I like it. It's cute. There are no hidden meanings, there really isn't anything much to say about it, except that it was done completely in ball-point pen. Most of my doodles will be.

You may notice the header. Yep, it's a little stroke of genius, isn't it? Anyway, this blog will be updated once a week (on a wednesday, I would assume) with doodles from lectures - one page at a time, unless the second page is needed. Don't worry, I have a lot of back-log if for some reason I don't doodle. In between the doodle posts you might get WIPs or parts of WIPs... you might even get finished pieces. You never know. I may just ramble. Like now. I hope you enjoy. :P
